Linda Gasparich Padilla, Principal

Mrs. Padilla comes to Sacred Heart School after spending 21 years as the Municipal Court Judge. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a doctorate in law, and has been teaching children and adults for the past 32 years. Mrs. Padilla’s father attended Cathedral in the 1930s, her husband in the 1950s, and now her own children are Panthers. She feels blessed to be a small part of the tradition.

Monica Guillen, Pre-School

Ms. Guillen is a native Gallupian who holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She has over 10 years of experience in the preschool.

Bernadette Shirley, Pre-School

Ms. Shirley has lived in the Gallup and the surrounding area her entire life.  A former Gallup police officer, Ms. Shirley has happily changed careers to early childhood education, and has found a home  at Sacred Heart.

Susan St. Thomas, Kindergarten

Mrs. St. Thomas was born in Rockford, Illinois, and has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University. She has taught kindergarten for 12 years at St. Anthony’s in Zuni, and with Gallup McKinley County Schools.  When she’s not preparing lessons for her students, she enjoys gardening, swimming, reading, hiking, camping, and animal rescue.

Sister Anastasia Chiwazhuka Mbewe, 1st Grade

Originally from Zambia, and a member of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi, Sister Annie has been a sister for 30 years, and has spent most of that time teaching in one capacity or another.  Sister is currently completing her master’s degree in elementary education.

Brenda Sanchez, 2nd Grade

Ms. Sanchez has several years of teaching experience and brings a love of her faith and her students to everything she does.

Socorro Culling, 3rd Grade

Mrs. Culling has over 40 years of teaching experience and holds a master’s degree and certification in counseling.

ID000052       Cindy Ross, Mid School LA & Reading

Ms. Ross is a lifelong resident of Gallup and in her fourth year at Gallup Catholic School.  She has recently a degree and certification in Elementary Education . Her children have attended the school from Elementary through High-school and she very grateful for the opportunity to work at this wonderful school.

Vonda Okuma, Mid School Science and Math

Ms. Okuma has a degree in elementary education and several years of educational experience. Having begun her educational career at Sacred Heart in the 1980s, she has come full circle and returned to us to teach math and science.

Constance Torres, Mid School Religion and Social Studies

Mrs. Torres is a career educator with degrees and certifications in Language Arts, TESOL, Modern and Classical Languages, Bilingual education, and school administration.  The former principal of Middle College High School, Mrs. Torres is an outstanding addition to the Sacred Heart Faculty.


ID000005       Amy Jo Mulvaney, Music Education and Title 1

Mrs. Mulvaney came to Gallup Catholic School in 2007 as a volunteer general music teacher which is now her full time position. In addition to teaching music for all, she teaches 3rd and 4th grade math, and Title 1.   She received her BA in music and elementary education at Mount Mary College in Yankton, SD.  She lives in Gallup with her husband Steve, and two daughters. When not at school, Mrs. Mulvaney teaches private piano lessons and also provides music for weekend Masses at Sacred Heart Cathedral.  She recently started a middle school band in addition to the chorus class for the middle school.


id000095           Ann Sloan, Librarian

Mrs. Sloan has been a part of Gallup Catholic School for approximately twenty years either as a parent, a volunteer or as a staff member.  She began her career working in the second grade classroom and since then has been in the library. She finds joy in books and in assisting students with their selections. She likes knowing what the children are reading and it presents an avenue of connection with them.

id000042        Mary Francis, Custodian

Mrs. Francis has worked at Gallup Catholic since 2008. She started out in the kitchen and developed into a wonderful custodian who has kept two buildings very clean. She is presently raising five grandchildren, and cares for a disabled adult.


Kathy Shirley, Kitchen Manager

Preparing good wholesome foods for her family and her Sacred Heart family are a favorite activity of Ms. Shirley. She has a grandson in the school, and treats every child as if they were her own.


id000007    Agatha Skersick,  After School Care

Mrs. Skersick has an extensive relationship with our school.  Her children attended Sacred Heart School  and her grandchildren are presently attending.  She is a substitute for us and does the After School Care.
