Faith Formation

We are a faith-based Catholic Community, where all children are taught about God and His love for them. Every child takes daily religion class suitable for their age. Each grade follows the Religious Education Curriculum, Pre K – 8 issued by the Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Gallup.

Prayer time is incorporated periodically throughout the school day. The prayer Book for Catholic School Children issued by the Gallup Diocese provides the opportunity for all our students to learn the prayers of the Church.  Specific prayers, devotions and facts of our faith are recommended for each grade.

In addition, the students attend and participate in weekly Mass. All classes attend adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the first Friday of each month. Students also take part in traditional Catholic devotions throughout the year, including the Stations of the Cross, Advent prayer services, Penance services and meditation on the Rosary.

Sacred Heart School supports the work of our local parishes which provide the Sacraments of Initiation for our communities Catholic children. The school offers formation and catachisis necessary to prepare for these sacraments.

Many of our students are not Catholic and we respect and encourage discussion of all religious beliefs so that students respect other religions. We provide a prayerful environment and we celebrate our Christian identity.

This year all of our students will be living their faith by participating in service projects that benefit our community and world around us.
